EIHA Novel Food Consortium
Formula Swiss is a co-founder and shareholder of the EIHA Novel Food Consortium and participates in coordinated Novel Food work for hemp extracts in Europe and the United Kingdom.
The EIHA Novel Food Consortium was created by the European Industrial Hemp Association to support a science-based compliance pathway for hemp-derived extracts intended for ingestion.
The consortium coordinates safety work, regulatory submissions, and scientific studies for cannabinoids. Its purpose is to help establish reliable safety data, responsible labelling, and clear regulatory alignment for hemp-derived food products.
The consortium has invested approximately €3.5 million in relevant toxicological studies on CBD and THC and appointed ChemSafe to conduct the studies.
Formula Swiss participates because long-term consumer trust depends on robust safety documentation, transparent standards, and responsible regulatory cooperation. As a consortium member, we are also involved in Novel Food work connected to the United Kingdom through the Food Standards Agency, FSA.
The consortium brings together EIHA members, including farmers, processors, manufacturers, and retailers. Members work together to support quality, product safety, research, development, and compliance for hemp-derived food products.
The consortium also works with national and international food safety authorities to help ensure that hemp-derived products meet applicable safety regulations and are labelled responsibly.
